
What is hand portion measuring? It literally is using your hand to measure your portion sizes. Because everyone's hand is unique to them and always available it is a really good resource to use as you are learning about portion size.
How does it work? As we work together we create a plan that is unique to you and your goals of weight loss and a healthy life. Based on those goals we come up with a palm sized guide together for protein, veggies, carbohydrates, and fat. Protein is measured with the open palm. Veggies are measured with a closed fist. Carbohydrates are measured with a cupped hand. Fats are measured using your thumb.
Typically I start my clients with just one of these categories and we build from there as clients are ready for the next step. This is not a sprint to the finish process but instead a habit changing goal of learning and understanding portion sizes that are good for your body.
